Love it :D Good ol’ Later with Jools Holland.
Update….México D.F
So, 2 months have been and gone and suddenly I am thinking of lincolnshire sausages, mashed potatoe and gravy. I never liked crisps that much but all of a sudden I would sacrifice my right leg for a packet of salt and vinegar walkers. Not sabritas, not lays, but walkers. Gary Linker style.
Apart from that everything else is going fine.
I work maybe 2 or 3 half days a week, visiting schools promoting Mallory the best I can (very well :P). The rest of the time is spent sleeping (too much during the day and not enough during the night…I should change that!), hanging around with the boy Rodri, wandering the streets of Mexico (trying to look as inconspicous as possible while still getting a tan - a balance hard to achieve sometimes), taking pics, taking and giving language classes and learning about Mexican History…so I actually understand a wee bit about the ruins that I visit.
I would like to buy a bicycle, and I think I will seriously start looking if I manage to get more appointments when I ring on Monday. I need to start exercising, as I do not want to sacrifice my pan dulces and my tacos, and I would rather spend money on a bicycle than a whole new wardrobe. Seriously, you can understand why this country has the highest percentage of obesity in Latin America…the food is goooood!
We have 3 new flatmates, a girl from Colombia and FX, Alisa’s boyfriend who has come back from France (He is French). I also have a new poltergiest who steals ipods and turns and leaves on the computer I no longer use.
On Friday I went to my first Rock Club since leaving the UK. It was good. Really good. So was the rum. Thank you FX.
We also went to see Radiohead live. It was amazing and totally worth the 400pesos extra commision for the DAMN TOUTS.
I am not sure how long I will stay, when I’ll come back or what I will do inbetween, but that is what is making me feel warm and alive inside. Well, I do think that I want to be at home for Christmas, but we will just have to see if I last until then!!
:D
Home sweet home…
Just a quick note to say… I have moved into a room in Mexico City and plan on staying here for a month or two :D I have found that travelling the speed of light is not for me….it is a good way to see the sights, but less effective when you want to experience the ‘real’ place. Or if you want to learn the language, staying in hostels with other English speaking travellers is more of an easy way not to! Although I have to admit it is fun, it is fleating fun…I’m after some more longterm indulgence….
So I have a place, with 2 flatmates and 3 flatcats…so far so good :D….I have bought myself a Mexican textbook aimed at Bachillerato students on the entire history of Mexico and I am hoping it will help me understand the pyramids more :D
I’ll get some pics up of the place soon
